Here’s where WWE is missing the boat. There’s more sales down the line if you turn Cena heel for a year, and then turn him back baayfbce. His popularity will explode, ala The Rock’s after his heel turn. They keep planting the heel turn seeds, but never acting on them. Almost to appease the adult males who are begging for the heel turn. My only fear is they will mess it up. A Cena heel turn has to be, and would be special at this point. But has to be done right. They had an excellent opporutnity a year ago with Nexus, having Cena join the group, being forced to carry out Barrett’s orders, and eventually get tired of the boo’s and like the heel nature. Would have been an awesome year where you could have by now, turned him back face, and had him again booming.So if they do turn him heel, which I’m sure some in the company would welcome by the time Wrestlemania hits, what do they do with him up to that point? That’s the bigger issue, can the writers handle a move of this magnitude or would it fall flat. The whole Rock/Cena thing looming in 5 months also hurts this angle a lot, as you can’t put Cena in too many programs leading up to Mania without Rock around. Sticky situation, but I welcome the heel turn. Fully believe every superstar needs it in them at some point to flesh out their careers. Other than Ricky Steamboat and Rey Mysterio, has any other face never went heel in the United States? And I know Cena was a heel at his beginning, but not at his height of popularity. Great topic.
